1. I think Yoko wants to help Mr. Naido because he and she share a common problem, and Yoko wants to know him better. Yoko helps him cure his stuttering by speaking slowly, like her father did to help a classmate, and she helps him also because she needs school supplies, and she finds out that he has them. He also helps him cure his loneliness, which is something they both share, as she was rejected by her classmates and Naido was rejected by the Japaneese navy.
2. Yoko realises that Ko's idea is shining shoes for money for her, and she realises that she is a good sister after all. She sees that Ko cares about her, and works so hard just to get good food for Yoko. Yoko becomes really nice to her after that, and wants to give back with the good meal that she bought.
3. After all that Yoko has been through, how do you think she has changed overall?
I think that she has become a lot tougher and less whiney. She is more accepting to the bumps of life, and she becomes more appreciative of the things she has. She is also warming up to her sister, and she tries to ignore bad things that can be ignored.

2 i feel really bad for the kawashima family because they used to have a really great life and now its "like hell" or so Yoko thinks but her sister Ko is trying so heard to make things better she shines shoes !!!
3. i think that now yoko is tougher and can sustain more over all i think she is a better person
1.) I agree with you also. I forgot that Mr. Naido got rejected from the navy.
2.) I think Ko is doing a good thing for Yoko and I think Yoko realizes that sometimes you have to do things that you really don't want to do.
3.) I think Yoko is a lot more understandin of things and she figured out that complaining doesn't usually get you anything.
1) yea i agree with its actually really cool that they help each other. I also think that ko thinks if she helps Mr. Niado she will get to think o her father often.
2)Yeah its been really hard for ko and yoko since their mother died in november. And to top that off yoko is being teased by her classmates. But it was really nice that ko was staying for schol work but was working to help yoko.
3)I think she change drastically from the begining of the war by being a whiny spoiled brat to a toughen up girl who can handle things in her own hands.
