1. They feel that they must leave for Pusan because they have a ship leaving for Japan there, and the doctor said that all patients were leaving for Pusan. Also, they must leave anyways because of the danger in Korea, with all the rapes. An example from the text is on page 79: "All patients will leave for Pusan by truck by the end of the month. A hospital ship will be leaving from there for japan on October second. Come with us back to 0ur homeland."
EDIT: (so sorry, I didn't see part b.)
b. I think it was a good, but hard descision because it's hard to leave family behind, but they just need to for their own safety. They were at risk, so they had to. I really hope that they meet up eventually.
2. Why do you think even the Korean non-communists are being killed?
I think it's because they don't follow the rules and have independence, but the communists only think of it as disobedience.

ok so i put basically the same thing as you for number 1 for. number one i wrote about how the had to go to pusan because of japan bla bla bla and i so agree with you i think ur right on that part i also agree with you on the awnser of your question because ther getting killed because there not going with what they want and they dont want any opposer's soo yah
1.) I agree with you. They can get raped or even worse things done to them, I think it is a good thing that they left.
2.) I think they are beaing killed because the Korean Communists want evry one on their side and if they are not they will get killed.

a. Yea it was a good desicion for the kawashima family to leave for pusan because their lives were at stake because of the rapes and they might probably get killed.
b. It probably was one of their hardest desicions to leave Hideyo behind because they really wanted him to come and now they are on the vergeded of being killed or rasped so i think it was a good but hard desicion.
2)I thinkl because the korean communist might be afraid that the non-communist might fight back and out number them so i think thats why they say join us or die.
1. I think that your right because they needed to leave for the danger in korea was really bad and they had afterall no place to go.
b: I think that your right because for there sake they should leave but I agree I tink they adeserve a chance to see eachother.
2. I think the korean non-communists group are getting killed because they arnt obeying there rules and they wont join there army.
